Heating and Insulation grants - How They Work

Currently, there is £1billion per year in funding available through the Government's Energy Company Obligation until March 2026.

This grant scheme requires energy companies to enhance the energy efficiency of eligible households' homes.
Homeowners, private renters, can qualify for these grants. However, the property must also meet specific rules regarding its Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating (see details below).

If you do not claim any of the benefits mentioned above, you may still qualify for funding through your council's ECO4 Flex rules. These rules allow households to apply if they do not claim benefits, earn less than £31,000 per year, or have a health condition worsened by living in a cold home, or are vulnerable to the effects of living in a cold home.( NHS Referrals )

To apply through ECO4 Flex, your council must publish their statement of intent. All councils areas we work in have been onboarded with the scheme.

Energy Performance Rules

In addition to meeting the eligibility criteria mentioned above, eligibility for the ECO4 scheme is based on the energy rating of your home. This rating is indicated on the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for your property.

To qualify under ECO4, your property's EPC rating must be E, F, or G. Energy companies are only allowed to allocate 15% of their funding to properties with a Band D rating. Therefore, applications are currently being accepted only for properties with an E, F, or G rating.

If your property has an EPC rating of D,E,F or G and a Council tax band of A to D You may qualify under the GBIS (Great British insulation scheme)

You can view all existing EPCs on the government's website for England and Wales, or the website for Scotland.

If you do not currently have an EPC, a we can estimate the rating when you apply.
